Chapter 6: The Heart of an Apostle

Page 14

I have walked with God now for over 25 years. I walked with Him for

20 years before I received His call of apostleship. I also ignored the call for at least 2 years. I am sure that I was not saved during the first 32 years of my life. God was all head knowledge to me. The matters of the heart that I now speak to you about did not exist for me in the first 32 years of my life.

Most of us know someone whom the following statement applies: “He [or she] doesn’t seem to have a heart for his [or her] job.” When someone doesn’t have a heart for their job, they don’t seem to do it very well. They

are disheartened. When I talk of having a heart for God, the opposite is true. You are excited to learn more about God. You study His Holy Bible. You get excited about fellowshipping with other believers. And, like Jesus proclaimed, you Worship only God “In Spirit and truth.” The issue of our sin can be further clarified with this graphic.
