In the above verses, you can see that the KJV renders the words “ye

that work iniquity” and that the NKJV translates this as “you who practice lawlessness.”

From Strong’S® Concordance, we see that the word “iniquity” in the

above KJV verse is derived from the Greek word anomia, which is pronounced an-om-ee’-ah. It means illegality, i.e. violation of law or (gen) wickedness: - iniquity, X transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

Therefore, both translations render the Greek word appropriately. Yet, isn’t the NKJV easier to understand? On Thursday night, the four salvation warriors did not understand the NJKV translation nor did they understand the meaning of lawlessness. It was simply not in their vernacular. To put it bluntly, they were entrenched within the language of

the KJV and within the doctrine of the assembly they came from. They were also not equipped to rightly divide the word of God as all are charged to do. They were, instead, equipped with rhetorical machinations designed to beat sinners into salvation. They were also steeped in a very interesting doctrine

on “perfection” that got my attention.

They believed it is impossible for real believers to sin in any form after receiving salvation through Christ. They believed you are then perfect

just like Christ. It was interesting for me as I was preparing to write this chapter. Little did I know that God would provide more input to me as he rearranged my life this last week. This perfection doctrine dovetails quite nicely with Chapter 5 and it needs to be discussed at this time.

You recall that I ended Chapter 5 with the admonishment that God expects us to live a sin free life. Inasmuch as is humanly possible having His Spirit inside of us. You also recall the prior discussions on Hebrews

10:26. The King James Bible renders the translation of this verse as follows:

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice
