Chapter 14: The Gift of Jesus

Another Gnostic example comes from the “Gospel of Philip.” 4

“If one goes down into the water and comes up again without having received anything, and says I am a Christian, he has borrowed the name at interest. But if he receives the Holy

Spirit, he has the name as a gift. He who has received a gift does not have to give it back, but of him who has borrowed it at interest, payment is demanded. This is the way it happens to one when one experiences a mystery.” Gospel of Philip

Note: Only canon Scripture is shown in boldface type indented, unless a large section of Scripture is being provided or the Scripture is shown at the start of the chapter. It is November 15, this day of my Lord.

Many people call themselves Christian today. However, many who call themselves Christian have never received anything from God. Indeed, true repentance from the heart leads to the gift of Jesus during either water or spirit baptism. That means many people are simply fake Christians who

do not have the Spirit of God inside of them. These fakes are the ones who can conduct willful open sin in the name of Christ. God will have the last word. Is this a surprise to you? How else do you explain both righteousness and unrighteousness coexisting within the church of God? Do you really

think they are compatible with one another? Those of the light should not walk in fellowship with those of the darkness!

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of

the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life [Spirit of God].’ ” John 8:12

The “light of life” that Jesus talks about shines down from the

Father, our God. Those who actually follow Jesus have acquired this light from God Almighty and do not willfully sin. God’s light is inside of them. If you find that you can disobey God’s commandments without much mental conflict, it only means that you are not one of God’s kids. You belong to

Satan because you have not had a permanent change inside of your heart. This changed heart within us towards God is also a gift of Jesus.
