Chapter 7: Choices From The Heart
Page 29
All of our choices for God do not carry the same weight or the same distance. The graphic below illustrates that some of our choices will carry us further towards God. Likewise poor choices from the heart can carry us away from God further and faster than one could suspect. Who or what
controls the speed of your ascent or descent? Your heart and the thought-life that is inside of it control it all.
Can your speed be altered by who you are and what knowledge you have? Yes, it can. As we get closer to God, His expectations of our
behavior increase. That is why God got mad at Moses for striking the rock and at David for counting his troops [war resources]. When you walk with God, He expects you to trust in Him and rely upon Him. If you get as close to God as Moses and David did, you should know better than someone else
that does not walk closely with God.
Clearly, each choice we make contains not only direction; but also distance and speed components. Clearly, your heart is in the driver’s seat!
