Chapter 7: Choices From The Heart
Page 20
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears
are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12
“If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.” 1 John 2:29
“Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as he [Jesus] is righteous.” 1 John 3:7
Practicing Righteousness Is A Choice Of The Heart!
The Bible makes it clear that there is a narrow path of life that leads to eternal life and a wide path of life that leads to destruction. We are told by Jesus to enter by the narrow gate.
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the
way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
If you have not studied the words of Jesus in Matthew 7, this would be a good time to stop reading here and go to your Bible and check it out.
After the admonishment to enter by the narrow gate, Jesus points out the deception, which will occur within the church. Jesus says: “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing [with angelic smiles and cordial greetings], but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know
them by their fruits.”
I spent four years inside of a Christian cult. During those years, I always walked with God. While the pastor ranted his man made doctrines, I would study the Word. This pastor was clever to present himself as a
righteous man of God. However, his teachings were off in very subtle ways.
