Now when you realize that Jesus made it clear that belief in him was tantamount to belief in Yahweh and that if you are a “sincere believer” your behavior will reflect obedience to God, it is easier to understand what John is really teaching us. Here then is a spiritual translation of whom we are to

believe in John 3:16 based upon what Jesus taught in John 12:44.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but

have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Spiritual Translation

“For Yahweh so loved the world that Yahweh gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ as a final and perfect sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world. Whoever truly believes in

Jesus Christ adopts God’s righteousness into their heart and this results in obedience to God’s ways. Since the heart changes and adheres to God’s righteousness, it is not really belief in Jesus Christ, but belief in Yahweh that has been

established through Jesus Christ. Such a believer will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 — Paraphrased
