Chapter 12: The False Salvation Doctrine

Page 14

Jesus’ own words summarize the difficulty of those who promote the

false salvation idea of “just calling on the name of Jesus.” Christ translates your calling on his name into a direct challenge of your obedience to the commandments of God. Jesus ultimately rejects those who “just call on his name” but exhibit no obedience to God’s commands [Matthew 7:21-23].

Jesus says: “I never knew you — you who practice lawlessness.” Jesus will filter his sheep with the simple criteria of obedience to what he has taught. Therefore, call on his name until you are blue in the face and you can still simply wind up in Hell when you are disobedient from your heart.

Jesus said: “They Worship God In Vain!”

“And in vain they worship Me [Yahweh], teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:9

The Apostle James tried to teach Christians obedience when he said: “faith without works [obedience] is dead.” Now, how did we get to this point where the average Christian may be just as likely to be headed to Hell

as Heaven even though we all “call on the name of Jesus?” It gets back to the false salvation doctrine of Christianity, which is first of all a half-baked presentation of Apostle Paul’s teachings. Listen to what Apostle Paul taught about sin and God’s eternal character [subject of prior chapter].

“Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.” 1 Cor. 15:34

Apostle Paul gives a clear warning concerning sin. “Awake to righteousness, and do not sin!” He goes on to explain that some who claim Jesus Christ as their savior are actually ignorant of any knowledge of God Almighty. How can that be except for false doctrines and 8-minute sermons

from the pulpit? Let me clarify this for you. What Paul is talking about is that some of those “who call upon the name of Jesus” are actually ignorant of God’s eternal character. It is their ignorance that is leading them to Hell since they refuse to repent from within their hearts to God.
