“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel [unbeliever].” 1 Timothy 5:8 KJV

Everyone can now see that God expects you to honor your mother and father and to take care of your family. If you hear anything different from the pulpit of a church, you are certainly attending a modern day Christian cult. What? Christian cults? Yes, they exist and for four years I attended one. It is a fact that some churches are in the God business instead of God’s business. Any church that tries to separate you from your family [even if they are all unsaved] in the name of Jesus Christ is a cult. This is not God’s way and it is not God’s message.

God cares for your entire family and their very salvation may depend upon your fellowship with them. If your church preaches isolation because “you are set aside special for God” — get out of there fast. Suffice to say here that absolutely no compromise should be accepted concerning the basic word of God from any pulpit. Especially so when it comes to fellowship with your family. That includes your brothers, sisters, mother, father, uncles, aunts, cousins, second cousins, third cousins and all other relatives.

Then what about the resources God has for church leaders? Shouldn’t these leaders be able to drive around in a BMW, Cadillac, or Mercedes Benz car? Shouldn’t they be able to fly from point to point in their own personal Lear Jet with their own pilot? After all, wasn’t Jesus Christ this rich? Isn’t that the same standard for everyone else “doing God’s work?” Jesus gives his own clear instructions to his disciples and they are to travel light. In other words, don’t accumulate a lot of assets as you go about God’s business.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
